Hello my name is Jeni and I am your Deputy President for the year. I am 19 years old and studied the BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre before being an apprentice with Firstpoint within the college. I wanted to become involved in the union because I am a passionate person who genuinely cares about the welfare of others and I think I can make a positive change. The Students’ Union to me is a place that helps and cares for all of you, a place where we help keep your best interests at heart and where we act as a team to achieve any goal or beat any obstacle that faces you. Over the coming year I would like to see many more events for you all and a lot more participation. This year is going to be an exciting one and I hope I manage to meet as many of you as I can.
The Deputy President supports the President in his work and acts as another vital point of contact for students who wish to raise issues or suggest ideas for the Union. As a full-time position, unlike the other members of the Executive Committee, the Deputy President is always available and accessible to students. The Deputy President, working under the leadership of the President, takes specific responsibility for gathering information on discounts, promoting these to students and organising visits and trips for students. The Deputy President will also work with other Executive members – for example, working with the Societies and Events Officers to help support clubs and societies or working with the Comms & Publicity Officer to help with the production of any official Union magazine or newspaper.
