Email: t1hollick@ccn.ac.ukHello there, my name is Tom Hollick and I am your Students’ Union President for this year. I was originally a GCSE and A-Level student at City College Norwich, with a particular love of History. It was at the end of this time that I felt compelled to run for Students’ Union Deputy President. With hard work I won this position, and since then I haven’t looked back! With a difficult year and many issues dealt with, I was elected to become your President and take your Union and your cause forward. This year I will be tireless in my dedication to get you the best deal, to make sure that when all else fails we don’t. The Students’ Union and I will build a Union you can be proud of.
Remember, we are there for your welfare, happiness and views.
May the Union be with you.
Your Students’ Union President is your main representative and leads the Unions’ work representing students within the College and at external meetings, conferences and in the media. The President attends weekly meetings to raise issues of concern to students and sits on a number of different committees within the College, including the Corporation (the College Governors), School Boards and Principalship (the Principal plus the senior management team of the College).
At all these meetings the President ensures that student’s views and concerns are heard and acted upon. The President is the main spokesperson of the Union, both internally and externally. The President attends all NUS Conferences and is the lead delegate at the NUS National Conference. The President will actively get involved in individual student cases, taking up any issues regarding the quality of courses, teaching and faculties. The President is also responsible for ensuring every school within the College has Class Representatives and that they are all fully trained. The President has overall responsibility for the Students’ Union, its decisions, and the work of the Students’ Union Executive and the management of the Students’ Union staff.
